Looks like a rough road ahead. Preliminary results are out for the pay study. It looks as though the county paid the "independent firm" enough money to get what they wanted out of the study. I predict you will see a mass exodus from the Police Department again shortly. Couple that with recent events involving Commissioner Cupid and her ridiculousness and now the crap with the Officer from Precinct Two makes for rough seas. Its a shame the wrap that law enforcement in general gets these days. Everyone has rights except the Officer sworn to protect them.

Is there any update as to the next order of vehicles? I keep hearing about a large number of cars that have been ordered (within the past month or so), but it's not clear what those vehicles are, when they'll be arriving, or where they'll be going.

I have heard that 75 Explorers were requested. That doesn't mean it will be approved, but that they were requested. I also heard that if they are approved they won't go to the taller officers that do not fit in a Taurus. I was told that they would go to road Lt.s and Sgt.s. The rest will go to the SWAT officers that do not have an SUV. So they still don't know how they are going to solve the safety issue of tall officers getting in and out of a Taurus. Also FTOs riding in the passenger side of a Taurus is a nightmare.

Anytime I see a post in here that has "I hear" or "I heard" in the first sentence I roll my eyes. The command staff has said if you have a question just ask. We have never issued cars before in this volume. There are going to be plans that change and if we were told about every single change in plans we'd go nuts. It is fluid and the guys involved are working hard. Take a second and think about the planning that would go into all the ordering, receiving, outfitting and issue of all of these cars. Then dealing with issues regarding installs and incompatible parts.
As for the pay study it is what it is. Many people forget that they could not quit tomorrow and get another job making this kind of money especially as a young man or woman. I have been here over 15yrs. We get a fair days pay for a fair days work and you aren't digging ditches. Have you ever asked yourself "how much value do I bring to the organization?" If you haven't maybe you should before you post about what you think you are entitled to.
In our business there are those that will never be satisfied. To that I say we work for a county government and things move slowly. Instead of complaining about what you don't have, maybe you should be thankful for what you do have.
I am an officer just like you and no I'm not on the SGT's list.

Wow 0834. I guess this blog is only for positive comments now. So if we have a question or think there might be a problem we should not bring it up here? This blog will now only be a cheering section for the department?

When this started the complaints were very serious issues. Now it is starting to sound like whining.

Can anyone explain briefly, why we are going back to being so "top heavy" (Maj. and Capt.) At every Pct? This was done away with years ago, because it was unnecessary, what makes it necessary now?
