Does anyone know how the brass is planning to distribute the first cars? I know we are a few months out, but just wondering.

Lieutenants, Sergeants and then from the ones that have been at the department the longest all the way down to the new guys.

Well, its happened. The first entering auto to occur at Tim Lee Park aka future home of the braves. Not even the construction workers building the stadium are safe from its crime potential. But its ok, because good things are here. And if your day shift worker you are in the exact same place you were this summer. Shift differential has done nothing for you. But smile. Cause take homes are here. Oh wait, those have been delayed too. But they are coming (sound familiar)?

Yea according to the last update from the director I would not hold your breath. I like how he wants you to have a positive attitude and think about all that has been done. Anyone who has heard this before knows that when something like that it said it is usually followed by lies, getting screwed or a combination of both. Then he goes on to tap dance around the take home issue and how the manufacture cannot meet the demand. Really? I have a lot more respect for folks who can be up front honest and tell the truth. Sounds to me like the director is just kicking the can down the road.
He talks about all the good things to come. Really the only thing that has happened is the shift differential pay. Sure, on paper we have turned the corner and everything is just fine. In reality, shift differential and that is it. Got to love those propaganda updates.

Yes, skepticism and cynicism, hallmarks of veteran cops everywhere. But there's a difference this time, now there's a published timetable of improvements. They came through on the first item, right on schedule. Let's see how they do on the next one.

It appears that even this site has swallowed the Cool-aid that was served so bitter to the bulk of the Cobb Police Officers. - To say that the tax payers should pay for the policing they receive is a total disgrace to me and all the officers that work and where this uniform. No matter what agency name that may be placed upon the uniform! - Ladies and gentlemen of the Cobb Police Department wake up and see that the writing has been placed upon the wall. You do NOT MATTER squat to the likes of David Hankers, Tim Lee, nor Sam Heaton. Sam Heaton is an absolute coward and is so spineless to bring his ridiculous updates to the Cobb WebSite. - Let me not forget to tell you just how that low life breath stealing Tim Lee thinks of you. He does not even take the time to personally come into the halls of the precincts and tell the officers Merry Christmas. He, in his Tim Lee fashion pawns the task off to one of his office staff to make a cheap disgusting power point presentation. - The SPLOST passed by a close margin. The taxpayers pay plenty into the coffers of Cobb County. Those coffers have been stolen from and misappropriated by the entire Manager/BOC team. - Good men/women are still leaving this agency in high numbers only to be replaced by numbers to fill slots. No Longer is the Cobb County Police Department recruiting the best of the best, but we have fallen into having to beg people to work here. Yes Cobb Police, You have lowered your standard and the community in which you serve shall pay that penalty. No I do not blame the agency, but I do blame Hankerson, Lee, and their little lap dog Sam. - I see we made national news again. It seems you can’t even eat a hamburger these days and roll down the road. Precinct 4 leading the way on the “STAT” sheet! Hope the supervisors over there like the environment THEY create. I just hope they don’t throw the young/new officer under the bus for his interpretation of the law. - Some of you men and women will have to stay here. I just hope that a new team at the top will arrive sooner than later. I hope that this time when new leaders are selected that they are Leaders and not just managers. Cobb County is managed enough and it is in desperate need of some leadership.

Yeah, Thats a great idea. Lets screw the new guy that has received 1 raise in 7yrs and Give them to people making $30 an hour.

Anonymous said...

You think they care would the Officer, there's brass working Part-times like they make $20 an hour.

I don't think many have drank the kool aid Chief. My bet is the great majority are getting tired of the hurry up and wait game. If the director doesn't start putting his money where his mouth is things are gonna get worse around here real soon.

How about using some of this splost money to do a little site security. Pct 2 officers are losing POV tires to nails in sidewalls, happening in the Pct parking lot. Keep your heads on swivels, remember Cpl Dixon, Penn State Police, EOW 9-12-14

To the FNG. YES you should get a THC "Only after the ones who have spent years at this agency get theirs".

How about you worrying more about how to do the dang job and quit your bitching. I am so tired of these new kids coming here and thinking they should have everything handed to them like mommy and dad did for them. Some of you are nothing but punks and should not even be LEO's.

With time and experience you should be rewarded. Some have earned the right to complain, but you, I deem have not! So STFU until you get some experience under your diapered ass.

I cant wait to read how this agency looks in five years. I hope they have the forethought to get some good liability lawyers lined up.

I hope that I am wrong in this thinking, but the writing is on the wall for now and we have to many other agencies that were good respectable entities that fell to their demise due to political correctness and political corruption.

OK, this is one item that has bothered the crap out of me for many years so figured I would ask it on here to get the consensus.
Part time employment by the command staff and still in the “Controlling” hands of retired officers.
NO big surprise here! Everyone I know has wondered how this can go on to such an extent that the big guys are not held to the same standard as the officer on the street.

If the command staff remembered what it was like when they were coming up and trying to make a living at this job? They might rethink that strategy. They make all the big dollars and hoard all the good paying part time work from the little officer barely making ends meet. Not only has some retired from this agency and still have access to working them [That in and of itself is OK], but to control the part time as a separate entity while under the banner of Cobb Police. Just this appearance seems shady to me.
How do supervisors come in on their scheduled work day and leave for a few hours to go work a part time and does so on a regular basis? I bet if this was a regular occurrence with the beat officer, it would have shut down a long time ago. Yet it goes on within all precincts and all shifts. I believe it is as simple as a lack of leadership.
Cobb County Police Officers, you do not have leadership that understands the lead by example standard that most successful agencies, businesses, and organizations do. Some of us that have years of time here have at one time seen what real leadership looks like. From my eyes it has departed from us and we have become like our bordering agencies, just a police agency. No longer are we the proud once revered Cobb County Police. My retirement is near and I plan to do just that.
I hope that while I still breath upon this earth that someone will stand up to politicians and say that the men and women of this agency are not for sale to the highest bidder and a return to greatness happens.
same standards as the work force when it comes to working a "Part time" job

Seems funny that just a few short weeks ago we see a video where in the Director states there will be a delay in the arrival of patrol cars. Now a man who could potentially be a Deputy Chief chooses to leave out of the blue. Seems like he doesn't want to go down with the ship.
We could sit here and trash the chain of command but let me tell you what time it is.... Chief Houser is not in charge of anything. He like many others are subject to whatever Hankerson wants. I suspect it goes something like this: Fleet orders the cars but Hankerson does not approve the disbursement of funds.....We are told cars are ordered, everyone high fives and back slaps and ole Hank has no intentions of paying for them anytime soon. Kinda like filling up the shopping cart on Amazon but not ever paying....

Couldn't agree more with you...this site HAS NOT drank the kool aid at all. If it was not for this site the men and women of the Cobb County Police Department would still be getting trampled on by our so called savior Sam Heaton, David Hankerson, and the Commissioners.
If anything this site has exposed those before mentioned people for who they really are and the crap that they have been getting away with for years. The before mentioned people probably pray at night for this site to go away. There has not been much traffic on this site for a while because I feel that the men and women are waiting to see what happens.
Yea a few comments up there is someone who chimes in about veteran cops. That person is probably not a cop and if so they have drank the kool aid but not this site. Going to take a lot more than shift differential buddy. I am surprised you didn't hit us with the old "It wont happen over night fella, it takes time!"
I hope that they come through on ALL of the things that they put into writing. The great men and women of this department deserve it and have for quite some time now.
I am curious has anyone heard what the numbers are in the police department. You know in regards to the forty additional vacancies that the commissioners gave us? Would love some info on that.
To those that run this site I appreciate what you have done for not only me but my fellow brother and sisters.
Thank you

There was another post just up from here that was similar to this one. There was a reply to that one from someone who is clearly not a cop(probably one of those who are part of the problem). It does seem like a stall tactic and it appears that the ship (the police department) is about to catch fire again and start going down.
I think that there is a lot of effort being put into improving the police department. But the director, county manager, and commissioners are starting their stall tactics again. They are probably shocked at the sticker price of it all and don't want to spend all that money. Oh, wait it is supposed to be SPLOST money that helps us. Director, county manager, and commissioners, we are not asking you to open up your own wallets.
But they sure do act like it, hang in there I am sure the director is working on another one of his "updates"

So let me get this right......Ford supposedly says they can't keep up with the demand. I call B.S. on that. This is a car manufacturer folks. They live for this, building cars. As bad as the car industry has been, if the company gets orders, they're going to build the cars and will be more than happy to do so, even if it means paying overtime at the plant(s) where they are built, which the workers would love. We're not talking about thousands of cars here, we're talking about a couple of hundred. Unbelievable.

Your command staff do not remember what it was like because none of them have ever spent any time in a precinct to amount to anything, just token time here and there, if any at all. That's why they feel privileged. Why does the Chief work a part time job? He makes more money than everyone else and has all the perks too.

Three more Sergeant Promotions today..... and Uniform still has no Sgt promotions in the last two years! Great job chief!!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have read entries in this blog for many months. I have read entries that were posted by calm reasonable officers and I have read entries that were not very professional. As an officer with this Department for 30 years and having worked in every precinct, every shift, and in several speciality units, I'm disappointed in some of the entries that I have read. I understand the purpose of this blog but I'm concerned about some of the personal attacks of other members of the Department.

Some of the information that has been posted has been factual and some of the information has not been based in truth. In an attempt to help provide the most factual and truthful information, I am offering to meet with anyone employed by the Department and discuss any concerns or answer any questions. My responses will be based in truth and not in rumors or assumptions. We can have a very open, honest and frank conversation without any concerns of offending me.

If you are interested in taking advantage of my proposal, please contact me via phone or e-mail.

Deputy Chief Cox

I will agree with that. Personal attacks aren't getting any closer to a solution. But I can see where some might see this site as a way to vent their frustration too. I have been the victim of poor supervision myself and wondered many times why upper management did not correct the problem before it ruined an entire shift. Bottom line is we need to work together to achieve a common goal.

That post pretty much sums up the problems in this dept. CCPD has this complex about time in and experience.

This "you need to spend 15 years here before you deserve anything" mentality is ridiculous. In most normal departments 15 years is 5 away from hanging up the gun belt.

The new age is here and people aren't going to stick around for crap pay and benefits with the cost of living rapidly rising. Most new hires have more education and earning potential than traditional police candidates so they won't stick around long for 18 bucks an hour.

Well, .....BYE....

Experience trump education on the road. If you think your criminal justice degree trump everybody else expertise you should look for another PD employer. The police officers that has been here for 10 or more years mostly have college degrees and have endured the county financial difficulties yet they still remain. So, yes, they should receive the assigned vehicle first.

The DPS director does not write the checks, FYI.
