I guess that there are no comments because everyone is waiting to see what will happen?
With upcoming elections in November, a group of candidates were asked several questions in an FOP questionnaire. A couple questions that stuck out from the others on the list related to the biggest challenge and the most important function of government. (The questionnaire can be viewed on the Georgia State FOP website).

---What is the biggest Law Enforcement challenge you foresee threatening our State? From an internal prospective: lack of funding for personnel, training and equipment, and inadequate standards to protect the officer. Externally, epidemic drug abuse is and will continue to be a challenge.
---What do you consider the most important function of Government? Public Safety.

---What do you consider the most important function of Government? As Attorney General, I believe the most important job is to enforce the laws and constitution of this state, including prosecuting corruption in state government and protecting victims of crime.
---What is the biggest Law Enforcement Challenge you foresee threatening our State? Shortfalls in state and local budgets currently represent the biggest challenge to law enforcement. Budget cutbacks mean fewer resources for hiring, training, equipment, etc. As Attorney General, I will advocate for fully funding Georgia’s law enforcement.

The biggest challenges threatening our state for Law Enforcement is recruiting and retaining law enforcement professionals, and sworn officers to fill vacated positions to accommodate a growing population. Financial resources to procure the tools needed to perform public safety duties and human resources.
After reading the responses from our elected officials. One of them being our previous Cobb County BoC Chairman. The other two candidates have been state Senators, to include one of them as a metro Atlanta county Assistant District Attorney. I just wander how the priorities have either been forgotten in Cobb County or why the lack of leadership we continue to keep around here. I never read any entertainment being mentioned as a function in our government, since I was a little kid.
Brothers and Sisters, the only way to fix the problem is to get out and vote, be heard by joining the FOP, and attending meetings that show we support select elected officials that care for the well-being of the citizens of Cobb County and Georgia.
The truth is that ther are no comments because the majority of the people affected by any of these decisons have given up. There is NO TRUST in the County. NONE!! Nobody in the Cobb Government is trustworthy and this County WILL deteriorate in the same manner as this country has done under PATHETIC leaders. Garbage breeds garbage!!!
From the Brave groundbreaking. Does anyone know how much the TAXPAYERS payed for these items? COLLECTOR’S ITEMS: The shovels wielded by participants at the Braves’ stadium groundbreaking were not off-the-shelf models from The Home Depot or Lowe’s. Not by a longshot. Rather, their wooden handles were actually Louisville Slugger baseball bats tipped by shovel blades at “the business end.” Closer examination showed that not only did the bat/shovel handles have “Louisville Slugger” stamped into the wood, the stamp also bore the name of the participant and the details of the groundbreaking.
That’s not all.
The shovel blades were not just the usual steel, or even steel spray-painted gold or silver, as is sometimes the case at ceremonial groundbreakings.
Rather, these blades were silver-plated. And engraved in the silver was the name unveiled at the event for the new stadium: “SunTrust Park.”
Been awful quite lately. I know we had a recruit quit this week after nearly completing all of his DORs. I had heard that 3 long time veteran officers quit zone 3 last week. Does anybody have any information or can confirm that?
It's open enrollment time. Time for the Cobb County Human Resources Shell Game. "If you have BCBS HMO your insurance didn't go up this year!" But you now have a 200 dollar deductable (which is 200 diveded across 26 pay periods is increas of around 7.70 a pay period, a very susbstantial hike!). Plus your co-pays went up from 20 to 25 dollars for primary car and 25 to 30 for specialists. "Slip it under the table and these dummies won't raise cain over this. If we told them it was going to go up 10 dollars a pay period their will be more people quit."
I can confirm that. And they all left AFTER the alleged "good things are here" announcement from uptown. Which we all know was just them putting "good things are coming" down on paper.
We will be in the Affordable Health Care Exchanges before it's over and done with. It would have been easier to swallow if they just told us it was going up instead of trying to "slip" it in there. Obamacare has screwed everything up. There is nothing the county can do about that but don't lie about it. Tell it like it is. Another kick in the pants, the proposed Merit increase will be eaten up with the insurance increase and the retirement contribution increase. Where are these good things are coming????
